1. Not trusting your inner voice:
As a kid we tend to do the things that we feel like doing, things that interest us but as we grow up we tend to pay more attention to the practicality of an idea rather than the possibilities. We let our logical brain take over our intuitive feelings. Our traditional teachings encourage us to follow the proven path, to listen to all the authorities to guide us rather than paying attention to our inner wisdom and feelings. When we can step outside of this trap and let our intuition show us the path we can experience wonders of possibilities and create a remarkable journey. This has been a big challenge for me for many years but last one year I have been practising more courage to follow my my inner pilot light and it has led me to many wonderful possibilities and result. I can’t stress enough to practice this habit to bring more opportunities and rewarding results in your life.
2. Waiting for the approval from others:
This is another big trap for so many of us. We know our inner callings but yet we wait for our spouse, parents or the co-workers to approve the decision. We take their judgement of our ability and then we settle for certainty rather than possibilities.
3. Comparing with others:
Each of us has different strength and weakness, created by our unique life experiences. But when we compare ourselves ( our business, art, job, family) we only focus on a specific part of ourselves. We compare the end result but not the whole process that led to the results. This is often a great source of frustration, low self esteem and loss of enthusiasm.
4. Ignoring the treasure you already have:
Often we are so focused on the things that we don’t have that we forget to pay any attention to all the wonderful treasures we already own. The positive psychology practise has shown that when we focus on our strengths, the things that we have,we create a good energy that lead to confidence and self esteem and brings out good results and vice versa. One practice that has helped me a lot is to have a gratitude journal, on the days when I am feeling a bit down, going through that journal always makes me more appreciative of all the wonderful blessings that I have in my life.
5. Lack of commitment to create and maintain genuine connections:
We get influenced a lot by the people we hang out with. Negative attitude brings out more negative energy. If we are surrounded by passionate ,creative and authentic people we can experience a shift in our attitude towards more possibilities and more positive results. All meaningful connections need commitments, cooperation, compassion and honesty.
